While family fun is my primary focus, Dad’s Gaming Addiction is also a valuable resource for developers and publishers alike. This serves as a polite warning for those who rage quit games over the slightest rule infraction…that’s just not how we roll. ![]() We’re also not a stickler for rules and we often bend them to ensure that family night goes off without a hitch. We’re what you’d call a casual gamer family, though we do play some of the more difficult games from time to time. So who is the man behind the curtain and what is Dad’s Gaming Addiction?įirstly, my name is Vince and I am the author and creator of Dad’s Gaming Addiction. I once heard someone say, “A family that games together, stays together”…I didn’t realize how true that was until I started reviewing games with the kids. My goal is to spread awareness and attempt to bring families closer together through the “ancient art” of family game night, something that I rarely see in today’s society. iiRcade Immersive Arcade Damn, I miss arcades. Pitch&Plakks mini golf game puts a tiny Augusta National at your fingertips. Pitch&Plakks Mini Golf My golf game is like the DMV’s website: Absolutely terrible. Upon realizing this, I began writing about board games to help spread the word. Best Kickstarter Board Games of 2020 June/July 11. Trademarks and visuals belong to their rightful owners. His latest game called Weather Machine is now being heavily playtested and will launch on KS in 2021. As an avid gamer myself, there’s a good chance that if I didn’t know about it, then others didn’t either. Vital Lacerda (Lisboa, On Mars) is easily one of the most recognized Kickstarter board game authors when it comes to more complex euro style titles. Heck, I didn’t even know what a “Eurogame” was until about five years ago. As an adult, I was (and still am) amazed by how vast the board game market really is. At least I know I like the game. When I was a kid, the only board games I was familiar with were those I saw on the store shelf. And I can’t just jump on Season 3 without having everything that comes before… and unfortunately well over half of the playable characters in the game can only be found on eBay… so in order to back this, I had to spend a few months’ worth of car payments to grab all the Season 1 and 2 exclusive content I missed out on. The best upcoming board game Kickstarters are: Slay the Spire: The Board Game Massive Darkness 2: Hellscape Darwin’s Journey Eternal Palace The 7th Citadel Mob Big Apple Return to Dark Tower Darkest Dungeon: The Board Game Oath: Chronicles of Empire and Exile Quest Slay the Spire: The Board Game. I’ve only had the base set, and always refused to spend more money on this, but the new game mechanics I’m missing out on in the Season 2 and Season 3 boxes are starting to weigh on me. I think Cool Mini Millions focuses on making this a spectacle rather than a game… but unfortunately for me, the game behind the spectacle is outstanding. I’ve always been so torn by Zombicide it’s a simple and thematic game I love playing and will happily lose a night to, but the amount of “exclusive” gameplay material – and the disgusting amounts they go for on eBay – really turns me off. I’ve only backed one new project… and it’s the big one. I’m also beginning to waiver on Historia (I have no civilization games, so I don’t know if I’ll like the genre… I think I want to play Through the Ages before I start spending money on others). I’m almost certainly going to drop Spells of Doom due to concerns I mentioned last week, but I’m dragging my feet for now. I’ve had a lot of campaigns close recently, so my carry-overs are starting to thin out: Harbour, Historia, Luck O’ the Dice, Tiny Epic Defenders, 8 Planets, Through the Ages, Spells of Doom and Dungeon Lords. I can’t believe this game has such broad appeal. I’ve always assumed most of the Zombicide backers were eBay prospectors buying up 10+ copies a piece to flip them for a 4x return in a year… but those people probably don’t back other board game projects to begin with, so I guess I was wrong. The day it launched all the projects I’m backing stopped dead in their tracks, and haven’t picked up since. I’m sure Kickstarter is bereft of good projects right now because of Zombicide. I’m just back from vacation, so I’m trying to catch up on these… ![]()
